Avi West Jewish Educator Award

The Haberman Institute is honored to share this very special announcement with you.

The Washington DC Metro Area Jewish community is committed to perpetuating Avi West’s (z”l) enthusiasm, warmth, inclusivity, values, joy, and compassion for everyone he met, as well as the inspirational, creative, accessible, and imaginative Jewish learning experiences he created. 

To achieve this goal, Avi's family, together with an Award Selection Committee, reflecting a variety of Jewish educational perspectives, will select a Jewish educator to receive this award. This individual will have had a substantial impact on their students/community and embody Avi’s character, his love of Jewishness, Israel, and every Jewish individual.

Each year, an exemplary Jewish educator working in the Greater Washington area will be granted up to $5,000 to impact our community through their continued Jewish learning and/or professional development. The award is supported by the Avi West Endowment Fund.
