JxJ, the Edlavitch DCJCC’s multidisciplinary arts festival that encompasses the 30th Washington Jewish Film Festival and the 21st Washington Jewish Music Festival, kicks off its 2020 Virtual Festival from December 3-10.

The 2020 Festival – presented by the Edlavitch DCJCC in partnership with Bender JCC of Greater Washington and Pozez JCC of Northern Virginia – features 50+ films, concerts, and virtual conversations. Films include sports documentary Aulcie, centered on the life of professional basketball player Aulcie Perry; Cannes-winning filmmaker Pavel Lungin’s latest production Esau, starring Lior Ashkenazi, Harvey Keitel, and Shira Haas; and American coming-of-age comedy Shiva Baby.

Brought back from prior film festival editions are the queer cinema series Rated LGBTQ, and BEATSxJ, a programmatic strand focused of cinema that showcases the intersection of music and cinema.

The Festival will also feature a lineup of local and international performing artists in the Jewish space. Some representatives of DC talent include flute and sax virtuoso Gina Sobel, indie-folk musician SONiA: disappear fear, and Seth Kibel’s newest act More Kibel, featuring his son Will Kibel. Local acts will be presented alongside international musical talents Lenka Lichtenberg and Niki Jacobs.

In addition to JxJ’s core programming, the Festival will offer daily talks and Q&As with international filmmakers and subject matter experts, and the return of JxJ’s annual bar crawl Two Jews Walk into a Bar – presented virtually. A full slate of virtual conversations are available now and included with corresponding film rentals.

The full slate of programs is available at JxJDC.ORG/Events and Festival All Access Passes are available here now.
