Presented by Dr. Robert Watson
Distinguished Professor of American History, Avron Fogelman Research Professor, and Director of Project Civitas at Lynn University
When it comes to the Nazi regime, almost nothing seems too shocking or tragic. Yet, history—including the history of the Holocaust and Nazis—still has secrets.
One seemingly surreal secret was finally revealed just a few years ago when long-classified documents were released that shed light on a story that occurred in the war's final hours. It involved a bizarre plan cooked up by Hitler, Goebbels, and Himmler... and a luxury ocean liner, nicknamed the "Nazi Titanic" because it was built in Germany to resemble history's most infamous ship. The event that happened at the end of the war far surpassed the lives lost aboard the Titanic and would become one of the last tragedies of the Holocaust and one of history's most remarkable stories of survival.
Join us to dig into this untold story, and honor the memories of those lost.
