After 1177 BCE: The Survival of Civilizations

  • B'nai Israel Congregation 6301 Montrose Road Rockville, MD, 20852 United States (map)

Presented by Dr. Eric Cline

The collapse of civilizations that heralded the end of the Bronze Age gave way to the Iron Age, which some historians have categorized as a Dark Age. Not so, asserts George Washington University professor Eric Cline.

Instead, it paved the way for the rise of other civilizations, notably the Israelites (as well as the Philistines, Phoenicians, Neo-Hittites, Neo-Assyrians, and Neo-Babylonians).  With the recovery from the Bronze Age-ending cataclysms came world-changing innovations such as the use of iron and the alphabet.

This is the topic of the May publication of Dr. Cline’s new book, After 1177 BCE: The Survival of Civilizations. Join us to learn more!

Registration for this event is now closed.
